How old do I have to be to volunteer? Is this a good event for children and families?

 Volunteers of all ages are welcome to participate at this family-friendly event.  Miami-Dade Coastal Cleanup coordinators encourage youth participation, as it instills environmental stewardship and volunteerism at an early age.  Please note that any volunteer under the age of 18 will need a parent or guardian signature on their waiver. 

Can I register a group under my name, or does each volunteer need to register individually?

Volunteers can register a group under their name by entering in their group size when filling out their registration information.  Groups are more than welcome to participate, but if you have a large group of over 15 volunteers, please contact Tanya Denis-Irias or Cynthia Montoya at 305-372-3300 for a recommendation of a site that can accommodate your group. 

Will you be able to provide volunteer verification forms at the event?

Service forms will be available at each cleanup location upon request.  Simply ask your site manager for a service form when you are ready to leave the event. 

I am a school group or scout troop leader. Do you have any special instructions for me?

You and your group/troop will be a great addition to our cleanup efforts. Remember that we have a number of inland sites available where your students can really make a great difference. Please register for the estimated total number of volunteers you will bring to the cleanup, including parents. Also, don't forget to get parent's signatures on the Volunteer Release Form in advance of the cleanup.

What should I bring to the cleanup?

Please bring work gloves. All other cleanup supplies (trash bags, data cards, and pencils) will be provided by your site manager. Please wear comfortable clothing and bring sun protection and a reusable water bottle if you have one! If you are helping out at an inland site, please consider long sleeves, pants, and closed-toe shoes. Also, the check-in process is more streamlined if you bring a Volunteer Release Form that is already signed, especially if you are part of a large group.
