During the 2009 International Coastal Cleanup, 498,818 volunteers picked up 7.4 million pounds of marine debris, in 108 countries and locations around the world and 45 US states and the District of Columbia. In Miami, over 4,000 volunteers joined together at 31 coastal and inland sites to help restore the health of Miami's beaches and waterways.

Total number of volunteers: 4,042
Total miles of coast line cleared: 37.9 miles
Total weight of collected debris: 12,630
